STOP to the Pressure Injuries

As every year in these days we celebrate the world day "STOP to Pressure Injuries" promoted by the European Society for the Prevention and Treatment of Pressure Injuries. (European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel - EPUAP)

On this occasion, the past years saw the launch of a series of training and information initiatives aimed at raising awareness not only of the expert professionals in Wound Care and the Health Professionals involved in the treatment of pressure injuries,  but also public and private institutions. Unfortunately, the pandemic crisis is changing not only our habits, it has suspended the frontal training activities calling for compliance with the rules in order to limit as much as possible the propagation of Covid-19.  It has changed our relationships and our forms of communication. Digital communication has taken over from residential events.

AIUC on 19 November 2020 on the occasion of the World Day for the Prevention of Pressure Injuries, promotes the centrality of the patient within the process of prevention, treatment and assistance of pressure injuries.  An important appointment not to forget patients with skin ulcers and their families. A painful, debilitating and chronic disease that affects not only the costs borne by the National Health System but also the quality of life of the person with skin ulcers.  Aiuc (Italian Association of Skin Ulcers - onlus) and Simitu (Association for the Rights of patients with skin ulcers) - "TOGETHER" - TO REMEMBER HOW PREVENTION is the tool of excellence to limit the onset.

Primary prevention, monitoring and surveillance are the winning weapons to counter the impressive numbers of patients with pressure ulcers. The two associations are UNITED - in the campaign COVID19  "We will not leave anyone alone" - in order to ensure the management and provide adequate answers to the needs of patients with pressure ulcers and their families. To cope with the discomfort of patients with ldp and their families AIUC and SIMITU, "TOGETHER",  want to support those in difficulty by providing contact details to ask for advice, medical questions and indications on specialized centers for the treatment of pressure lesions or vascular ulcers.
